snow trumps gravity

Our gravel driveway,
a new blizzard; no match for
the bucket loader.

Stone swept up with snow,
piled high on grass and flowers,
now melting, dropping.

This year I'll catch it,
as it gathers in stone veins,
before it settles.

Snow trumps gravity.
Stones settle in slow motion,
falling to the earth.

Shovel them all up,
throw it back on the driveway.
Help the flowers bloom.

valentine's day blizzard

It comes and it goes,
our Valentine's Day blizzard
(it's meltdown delayed).

With rains, floods threaten.
Paths appear from weeks ago.
All refrozen solid.

Want to re-stack rocks
downed by storms, but can't be budged.
Too frozen to earth.

The next storm rages;
maybe twenty new inches.
Time to start over.
